Staff from Specsavers in Old Swan put their culinary skills to the test by baking pink-coloured biscuits and cakes to raise cash for Breast Cancer Care this October.
Creating awareness about Breast Cancer
In Breast Cancer Awareness month , the charity encourages people to wear pink and do what they can to raise more money to help raise the vital fund needed for the charity.
As well as raising cash for a very good cause, the store was also keen to create further awareness about breast cancer and the great work the being done in helping those affected by it.
Staff bake pink treats
Ahead of the bake sale, members of staff from Specsavers in Old Swan donned their aprons and spent an evening in the kitchen creating their pink cakes and biscuits. Customers who visited the store were invited to enjoy the tasty treats by simply making a donation.
Fundraising in store
The store managed to raise a brilliant £247.87 for Breast Cancer Awareness thanks to their fundraising efforts. Staff also dressed in pink to show their support for the charity.
Store director, Laura Mills said: ‘We were keen to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month as we know it’s a cause close to so many people’s hearts. We decided to put on a bake sale as we knew everyone would enjoy a tasty treat and that sweet treats would get staff and customers digging deep to donate!’
How the donations will help
Breast Cancer Care is the only UK-wide support charity helping the thousands of women waking up to the reality of breast cancer every day. Its specialist nurses, local services and emotional support network mean there’s always someone to turn to for information and support.
