Following an extensive refurbishment earlier this year, Specsavers Okehampton provides customers with state-of-the-art eyecare. It is owned and operated by store directors, Kath Dandy and Karen Reader.
Local Okehampton opticians
Kath Dandy is the ophthalmic director and qualified in 1986. Kath first moved to Devon with her husband and two children from the North West of England in 2004. The family have a dog, two rescue ponies and seven chickens.
She first worked for Specsavers South West for seven years before being appointed as a director of Specsavers Okehampton in the summer of 2011.
Kath’s hobbies include rowing and spending time on the beaches of Cornwall with her family. She is also enjoying her role as both an optometrist and a director of Specsavers Okehampton.
Karen works in store as the retail director. Before this she worked for Marks & Spencer for 28 years where she became regional food performance manager looking after 22 stores.
She began her training with Specsavers in 2011 in Plymouth prior to being appointed as store director of Okehampton in 2012. Devon Karen moved to Devon in 2007 with M&S and has a small farm on Dartmoor with three holiday cottages that she lets out
Karen’s hobbies include walking on Dartmoor with her dogs and dining out in the many beautiful pubs and inns of Devon. She is thoroughly enjoying her new role at Specsavers.
