Tell us about yourself
I am 32 years old, my wife and I moved from Newcastle to North Shields last year to be closer to the coast. We love it out here, I enjoy golf and kite surfing and its all here on my doorstep.

How did you come to run a Specsavers store
Its always been a goal of mine to have my own store. I first came across North shields Specsavers twelve years ago after moving over from Ireland. I had a great time working in the store as the resident Optician but after few years I left to travel for six months. Returning to the UK I spent years gaining varied experience working in many different aspects of Optometry. When the opportunity came to buy into North Shields in October 2015, it was the perfect chance for me to return.

Do you wear specs
I do wear specs but I need large fitting frames that fit my face. Finding the right fit is key to finding a frame that suits you. I really like the Osiris range and the Ludo is perfect for me.

What does job involve
There are two directors running North Shields, Bryan Clark and myself. We are both opticians and manage the day-to-day eye testing and running of the store.

Best part of role
Developing staff, I love to see people getting better and moving forward.

We've started opening on Sundays to be more flexible for our customers. With the shop open seven days a week, I need to remember to take a holiday and not spread myself too thin.
