An Edinburgh opticians is getting ready to welcome guide dogs in a day of fundraising this weekend.

The Specsavers store in North Bridge will host a charity collection day for Guide Dogs Scotland on Saturday 27 September, from 10am.

Customers will get the chance to come and see the special dogs and speak to their handlers about the work of the organisation.

Prizes to be won
The event will also have a raffle with top prizes such as a sweetie hamper and designer spectacles.

Specsavers staff in North Bridge will also be in animal-inspired costume and will host a name-the-bear competition.

Raising vital funds
The event is aimed at generating funds for the charity, and to make customers aware of all the hard work that goes into training the dogs so they can improve the lives of people with sight problems.

Jennifer Ballantyne, store director at Specsavers in North Bridge, said: ‘Guide Dogs Scotland does fantastic work throughout Scotland and we are delighted to welcome them to our store and community.

‘We hope that customers will come along on the day to donate to the cause and to find out about the amazing work that’s done in local communities like ours.’
