The team at Specsavers in Northampton is celebrating a fantastic fundraising total for their chosen charity, the Dunstone Bennett Complementary Centre (DB Centre). The charity supports people through their cancer journey, as well as family members and carers.
The store held a charity fun day this month, adding an impressive £650 to their year’s fundraising efforts. It was a great success, with customers and passers-by taking part in the charity games and the takings bring their running total to £1,440.
A tombola, face painting and games kept children entertained, while a raffle attracted interest from all. There were some excellent prizes, kindly donated by local businesses and friends of the store, including Northampton Saints rugby game tickets, a £250 photo shoot and a Rushden Golf Club voucher.
'Smashing our fundraising targets'
Store manager at Specsavers Northampton, Rebecca Wright, is a trustee for the DB Centre. ‘My dad benefitted so much from their support,’ she says. ‘It’s great to know that other families will benefit from their positive influence because of our fundraising.’
Store director, Marinos Constantinides, says: ‘We’re delighted to have already smashed our fundraising target of £1,000 for this excellent cause, but we’re still going to the end of the year. We’ve set a new target of £1,500 with just a few days to go.
‘We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone locally who has supported us so far, and a special thanks to local organisations who donated prizes, including Base Shade Tattoo, Tatty Devine for donating a beautiful necklace, Northampton Saints for tickets, The Smoke Pit for a meal voucher and Magee Street Bakery, plus many more generous donations.’
Using therapies to positively support mind and body through the cancer journey, the DB Centre is available for anyone being treated for the disease at Northampton General Hospital, their loved ones and carers. For more information about the charity go to: www.facefax.co.uk/dbcentre
