The team at Newtownards Specsavers lifted the PRO 12 Trophy in store recently during the Northern Ireland Trophy Tour.
The staff in store were able to pose for their own selfies with the trophy, while customers and members of the public also got a taste of glory, seeing the silverware up close. While they were in the store, customers also put their name forward to be included in a special prize draw to win tickets to the Ulster v Cardiff Blues match, and an Ulster Rugby shirt courtesy of Sportsbeat.
As an official sponsor of the Guinness PRO12 match officials and referees, Specsavers is also the official optician and hearing services partner of the Guinness PRO12, providing expert eye care for players and officials, ensuring no ‘should’ve gone to Specsavers’ moments on the pitch.
Eye care in sport
Leigh Nelson, store director at Specsavers Newtownards was delighted to have the trophy in Newtownards to further highlight the importance of looking after our sight; ‘We advise regular eye tests are taken to ensure the highest standard of eye health, however when playing a contact sport like rugby, this is particularly important. ‘Our highly qualified local team are here to give advice on how to ensure players’ sight isn’t compromised on the pitch, and also advise regular glasses wearers of their options for contact lenses or sports goggles when playing.’
