The Newtownards Specsavers store has helped to raise £207 for Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Cash for Kids campaign. The store hosted a fancy dress day where staff dressed up as their favourite Disney or fancy dress characters. Store staff handed out balloons to children around the town and collected donations from the local community in Cash for Kids collection buckets.
In addition to the fancy dress day, the store had collection buckets located at the till throughout August and offered a free glasses cleaning and repair service for a donation to the charity.
Leigh Nelson, store director, says: ‘We wanted to get involved with Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Cash for Kids as we see the excellent fundraising work they undertake year-on-year, and we wanted to be able to give something back to our community.
‘We would like to thank everyone who donated for their generous support. We are very happy to be able to donate to Cash for Kids and particularly as we know that the money is going to such a worthwhile cause. I would also thank to thank all of the store staff who really got behind this initiative to try and raise as much money as possible.’
Cash for Kids helps thousands of disadvantaged children all over Northern Ireland each year, by supporting individuals and groups who apply directly to the charity for help, as well as other charities who provide services to children in Northern Ireland. Everything the charity does is for the benefit of children and young people up to the age of 17, with a focus on alleviating disability, combating illness and improving quality of life, as well as encouraging personal development to fulfil their aspirations.
