Specsavers Newtownards has become the latest sponsor of the Ards Rangers Football Club, the store has recently announced.
The store, located on High Street in the town, has donated a sum to the club to help with general upkeep, as well as commissioning a branded add for the pitch, reminding players and supporters that eye health is important in sport.
The sponsorship will run throughout the rest of the season, continuing until the end of the year, supporting summer clubs and training as players move through the ranks of the amateur club.
Part of the Ards fabric
Leigh Nelson, store director met with Brian Beattie, Chairman of the Ards Rangers Supporters Club to handover the sponsorship cheque and see the new branding in situ. Leigh commented: ‘Ards Rangers is very much part of the sports and leisure fabric here in Newtownards, and as a local business treating local people, we endeavour to support teams like this in whatever way we can.
‘We’re delighted to see our branding around the pitch, and we look forward to welcoming the players for routine eye testing to ensure some more precision goal scoring!’
Sporting good eye health
The store is also hoping to highlight the importance of eye health within sports, as Leigh explains: ‘We know it is not always practical for players to wear protective eye wear, however we would encourage players of all sports to look after their eye health. Should they receive a nasty blow to the eye during a match, we would always encourage a trip to see us to ensure there is no long term damage.’
