Specsavers welcomed Alderman John Smyth, Deputy Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, who visited both the store and the RNIB/Specsavers interactive eye pod as part of National Eye Health Week.
Importance of eye health and regular tests
The unique eye pod was located just outside the Food Hall at Abbeycentre, and the team from Specsavers and RNIB chatted to the Deputy Mayor, shoppers and visitors about the importance of eye health and regular eye tests.
Interactive eye pod
The unusual sight simulator, called the Eye Pod helped everyone learn about how the four main eye conditions (Age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts) can affect your sight.
Shoppers were also able to talk to staff from Specsavers in Abbeycentre and RNIB staff and find out key facts and statistics about each condition.
