Generous local customers have helped Specsavers staff in Newtown raise an impressive £203.76 for BBC Children in Need.

Coveted prizes

The team organised a hamper raffle, which was won by local resident Pam Chadwick and a ‘Name the Bear’ competition captured the imagination of customers and passers-by alike, with Barbara Stanier eventually taking home the cuddly prize for correctly guessing the toy’s name was Barry.

Helen Paxon, store manager at the Newtown store, says: ‘We are incredibly proud of our generous local community and their commitment to supporting charitable organisations. Children in Need supports disadvantaged children and young people across the UK and is a cause that always captures people’s imagination.

‘I am delighted that we have been able to raise this much money locally and we’re all looking forward to organising more fundraisers in the future.’
