Newquay has once again been home to a successful entry in the Specsavers annual search for the Spectacle Wearer of the Year. Life coach, Charya Hilton, has beaten more than 13,000 specs wearers to be selected as a regional finalist in the 60+ age category of the Awards.
In her spare time, Charya enjoys walking the beautiful Cornwall coast, spending time with her two grandsons and taking part in charitable events. She has trekked the Great Wall of China in aid of the Cornwall Air Ambulance and has volunteered to help the refugees in the port of Dover and in Greece.
A £10,000 dream
Charya said: ‘When I was a little girl I used to pretend I needed a pair of glasses so I was delighted to get this far in the competition. If I win the £10,000 I would take my mum away on a trip. I would give some money to my two daughters and I would like to go back to Dover and Greece to help the refugees.’
Charya was invited to visit her local Specsavers store in Newquay where she met store director Dylan Ramburan who presented her with a bottle of champagne, a certificate and a £125 glasses voucher.
