Disadvantaged people in Newquay are benefiting from a successful partnership between Specsavers and a charity food bank.
The initiative will see Specsavers in Newquay acting as a food collection point throughout December and January for Newquay Foodbank. Store staff will be donating vital food supplies and hope to encourage customers to do the same.
Graham Dunn, store director of Specsavers Newquay, says: ‘We were shocked at how many people in the area rely on food donations to feed their family from week to week. Hunger is not just a problem in the developing world; as a community we have a responsibility to help those in desperate need living in and around Newquay.
‘We’re collecting everything from tins of beans to pasta and rice, which we then deliver to the local community larder.’
Newquay Foodbank provides emergency food parcels to people experiencing emotional or financial crisis.
