Specsavers staff at Spytty Road, Newport, have donated an eyecare voucher worth £69 to a local coffee morning in aid of the cancer support charity, Macmillan.
Macmillan cancer support
Held by students on the Level 2 beauty course at Coleg Gwent, the coffee morning saw a variety of fundraising activities, including a bake sale and a raffle.
Specsavers were invited to the morning by Alex Fouweather, previously a merchandiser at the Spytty Road store, who now attends the college in Newport.
The event raised more than £350 for the cancer support charity, which offers help and guidance for those diagnosed with cancer, as well as for their friends and family.
‘An invaluable charity’
Maggie Aizlewood, community champion of Specsavers on Spytty Road, said: ‘We’re delighted to have partnered with Coleg Gwent to provide an eyecare voucher for the Macmillan raffle.
‘As a charity, Macmillan plays a vital role in the lives of thousands of people in the UK facing cancer. They provide practical, medical and financial support for those affected, as well as fighting for better cancer care.
‘Specsavers at Spytty Road is proud to support such an invaluable charity and hope that the funds raised will help a fantastic cause.’
