The team at Specsavers Spytty Road raised a smile and much-needed money for Brain Tumour Research by sporting their wackiest headwear in-store.
Staff donned brightly-coloured wigs, beanies, cowboy hats and more to mark the charity’s Wear A Hat Day, which was sponsored by Specsavers this year.
They raised £70 thanks to the generosity of customers and passers-by. Since 2010, Wear A Hat Day has raised more than £1 million nationwide for the charity, which funds research into brain tumours and aims to raise awareness of the disease across the UK.
Maggie Aizlewood, community champion at Specsavers Spytty Road, says: ‘Our team put smiles on a lot of children’s faces by taking part in this fundraising activity. We love supporting good causes and Brain Tumour Research’s work is crucial. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
‘As always, the people of Newport were generous. We just hope the funds will make a difference.’
