Specsavers on Newport High Street welcomed local football star Lee Minshull for an important eye examination.

Mr Minshull, central midfielder for Newport County, has been a regular customer of the Newport store since joining the team in 2012.

He recently scored a winning goal for his team in a crucial League Two game against Carlisle. Specsavers in Newport provides him with daily disposable contact lenses and glasses.

Importance of tests

Mr Minshull said: ‘I have been going to Specsavers since I moved here three years ago and they have been a great help to me. I am very grateful to have a supply of eye care provided, especially the contact lenses, as I wear them every day for training and important games.

‘The importance of having frequent eye tests to make sure my sight is as good as it can be is vital, especially as a professional footballer. I’m very grateful to the Specsavers team for helping to look after my eyes.’

Jason Williams, store director at Specsavers in Newport, said: ‘It’s great to have a loyal customer like Lee, who certainly sets an example to everyone about the importance of regular check-ups for your eyes.

‘Specsavers recommends having an eye test every two years and we hope that Lee’s visit will help encourage more people in the local community to follow in his footsteps by taking their eye health seriously.

‘We are very happy to provide him with his lenses and glasses, and look forward to continuing to support his career with Newport County. Long may his recent goal scoring successes continue!’
