Specsavers New Malden store director Dr Ahmed Sivardeen made an appearance on the Islam Channel this month to highlight the importance of diversity and multiculturalism in his community.

Dr Sivardeen was invited to speak on the satellite channel’s Living The Life programme to discuss his position as chairman of the British Sri Lankan Association (BRISLA), an organization dedicated to building and maintaining relationship between British and Sri Lankan societies.

Community spirit

Speaking about his work with BRISLA, Dr Sivardeen said: ‘Working at Specsavers in the borough of Kingston, I meet people of different ethnic and multicultural backgrounds on a daily basis. Working with such a wonderful blend of people, there’s a great synergy and diversity, and that’s something I wanted to put into play in a larger context.’
