Specsavers Musselburgh has shown its support for the community by sponsoring local football team, Musselburgh Windsors, for the tenth year.
The store donated £1,000 towards their annual Ken Ritchie Festival of Football at Pinkie Playing Fields, held in memory of the club’s former player, coach and committee member Ken Ritchie.
Put to good use
The store has donated £10,000 since 2009. The money donated is used for tournament medals, with Specsavers store staff going along on the day to present these and give out gift bags filled with Specsavers goodies including water bottles and beach balls.
In the largest festival to date - with over 1,000 children aged from 6 to 12 years old - the children played Football 4s, Fun 5s and Soccer 7s side by side throughout the day.
Diana Kelly, store director, Specsavers Musselburgh, said: ‘Once again we are very proud to support our local community and continue our long association with Musselburgh Windsor FC. The Ken Ritchie Football Festival is a fantastic event for young people and their enthusiasm, despite the weather, is great to see.’
Club President, John Hood, said: ‘The Club has come together and delivered one of the largest football festivals in Scotland. We were unlucky on the day with the weather but from the smiles on the kids’ faces there was no doubt it didn't deter them.’
