Specsavers Morningside is undergoing a £250,000 renovation, which will begin on Monday 28th August and will provide more frames, new facilities, more space and new clinical services to customers, as well as creating several new jobs.
The store expansion includes an extra test room, a soundproof audiology room, and a host of the latest clinical equipment for eye and ear examinations.
3D eye scan
They will also be able to offer customers the opportunity to have an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan. This 3D eye scanning technology, allows the practitioner to view the actual individual layers of the eye, somewhat like an MRI, helping in the screening and management of conditions such as Macular Degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
The store also runs a Specialist Dry Eye Clinic, offering the latest in high-end diagnostic equipment and procedures for treating irritated eyes.
As part of their exhaustive contact lens repertoire, they offer bespoke contact lenses for any prescription as well as Ortho Keratology, a reversible process of correcting vision without the need for wearing spectacles or contact lenses during the day.
This involves scanning the shape of your eye with a high-end topographer and designing a bespoke contact lens to be slept in, reshaping the surface of the cornea, allowing light to be properly focussed onto the retina.
It will continue to offer Digital Precision Eyecare; a cutting-edge way of selecting and fitting customers’ glasses, using imaging software on tablet devices.
