An Edinburgh optician will bring some festive cheer to Scotland’s leading mental health charity by donating the food for its Christmas party.
Specsavers in Morningside will provide around 100 people attending the event, hosted by the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH), with food.
The donated food will be enjoyed by those who use SAMH’s Hive facility, based inside the Royal Edinburgh Hospital Campus.
The Hive helps people overcome mental health problems by providing a café, games area, sanctuary, art room and performance space within the hospital.
Staff at the store have also started collecting food for the homeless over the Christmas period and are encouraging customers to make donations.
A word from our store director
Michael O’Kane, Store Director at Specsavers, Morningside, said: “The work carried out by SAMH is incredibly important for people in the Edinburgh area who rely on their help during difficult times during their lives.
“We are delighted to be able to help this excellent charity by providing food for its Christmas party.
“At this time of year, it is also worth sparing a thought for those who have no homes or families to enjoy Christmas in. This is why we are appealing to our customers to help our staff members’ efforts to collect food for Edinburgh’s homeless over the festive period.”
