New jobs have been created alongside a £400,000 investment as the Monmouth store relocates to a new premises this summer.
Expanding in Monmouth
Emily-Anne Frost and Louise Harvey, directors of Specsavers in Monmouth, will oversee the move to 25 Monnow Street, the former Clarks shoe shop, which is expected to open in early July. This comes after 24 years since it first opened for business at its current location - 43 Monnow Street.
As part of the move, Specsavers is expanding its operations to five test rooms – more than doubling its capacity from the two test rooms it currently has. Two new full-time jobs have also been created ahead of the expansion, taking the business’s headcount to 10.
Audiology services are available for customers’ in-store, instead of at Bridges Community Centre.
The £400,000 investment includes purchasing state-of-the-art optical equipment and creating a spacious shop floor in which customers will have the option to manage bookings with tablets or through a traditional reception.
‘Highest standard of customer experience’
Ms Frost says: ‘I’m extremely proud of how the business has developed over the last five years, so much so that our current store is no longer fit for purpose because of the growing demand for our services. We’ve listened to feedback, and are committed to providing the highest standard of customer experience with us from both a clinical and retail perspective, which is why we have made the decision to invest in a new location.
‘We currently operate an external audiology service but, by bringing it in-store, it means the service is available alongside our optical services. It’s a very exciting time for the team as we gear up to open the doors to our new store; we’re thrilled to have added to the team in preparation of the expansion and to be investing in technology.
‘We look forward to welcoming customers, new and old, in July.’
