Specsavers staff in Milton Keynes are proud to say that some of their team members are qualified as Dementia Friends.

Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative and helps staff to develop an understanding of dementia and support customers and employees who are affected by the condition.

Steve Moore, Director of Specsavers Milton Keynes, said: ‘We believe very strongly in the importance of having our staff trained in dementia care, as we want to provide the best customer service for everyone that comes into the store.’

Proactive in supporting all customers

Steve added: ‘I am particularly proud of the Dementia Friends we have so far in store as they volunteered to take part in the qualification. As a team we are very proactive to ensure that we have the ability to effectively support all customers that walk into store, and I am looking forward to more of the team completing the qualification.’

The staff members who have qualified include – Charlotte O'brien, Ani Vardanian, Raj Shah, Charlotte Sutton, Lucy Wright, Ellie Sims, Hazel Humphries and Adnan Khan.

Dementia Friends is a qualification that is completed online and entails watching a series of scenario-based videos.
