An opticians in Milngavie is continuing to build its reputation as a strong family business following a £160,000 investment and relaunch.
The Specsavers store in Douglas Street has been remodelled and is now equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a new test room.
Store director Caroline Kinsey’s daughter Sarah is an optometrist at the store and is currently taking an independent prescribing qualification which will allow her to prescribe medicines for minor eye conditions.
And Sarah’s husband Colin Vallance – who is also the store manager – will qualify as a hearing aid dispenser next year.
Colin runs audiology clinics in store three times a week and, alongside hearing screeners and full hearing tests, he provides information on hearing aids and hearing protection.
Store director Caroline Kinsey said: ‘We’re a big part of the community here in Milngavie and it’s so important that our store reflects the fantastic service we offer customers across optical and audiology.
‘We’ve been in Milngavie for almost 10 years now and in that time we’ve formed great relationships with so many customers and their families.
‘Our customers love that we’re a family business. It’s a small community and we get to know all our customers very well, so it’s important for them that we deliver continuity.
‘We’ve had some great feedback from our customers since we relaunched, and we’re very proud to be helping the people of Milngavie look after their eyesight and hearing.’
The retail area of the store has been refurbished and redecorated and staff now benefit from state-of-the-art dispensing platforms incorporating tablet technology. One of the existing test rooms has also been soundproofed for audiology services.
