The team in Middleton is planning an Easter bonanza in store on Saturday 31st March in aid of Tommy’s, a charity which holds special importance for colleagues at the store
Earlier this month, Specsavers pledged to support Tommy’s, a national charity that funds research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, after retail manager Hayley Powsney and husband Adam lost their son Joshua when he was stillborn.
Staff are inviting visitors to the town centre into the store for an action-packed day of family-friendly fun, with all proceeds going to Tommy’s research centre in St. Mary’s Hospital.
The day will begin at 10am with an Easter colouring competition, followed by a performance by the Jaynie J Star Performing Arts School. Children’s entertainment from the Amazing Stephen will be on throughout the afternoon, including a Magic Show and face painting.
Visitors will be able to buy tasty treats from a Crepe Van and there will be a tombola with a number of fantastic prizes up for grabs, as well as a raffle for signed Anthony Crolla boxing gloves.
Colleagues Peter Cox and Dean Waldorf from the store will have their pain tolerance levels put to the test when they undergo a sponsored chest wax and the store is also planning on donating £1 from every test from Sunday 25th March to Saturday 31st to the charity.
Raising money for a great cause
Retail director, Dale Coxon, said: ‘Saturday looks set to be a fantastic day and we’re inviting anyone who’s planning on being in the town centre to join us and help raise money for this great charity.
‘It’s a cause close to the heart to everyone here at the store and we want to do our best to raise as much as possible.”
