A team of Bolton eye care experts battled the elements to reach the summit of the UK’s highest mountain and raise vital funds for a leading sight loss charity.
Dispensing opticians Robert Ogg and Tom Weatherley, and optometrist Matt Thornton, joined forces to raise £600 for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) by scaling Ben Nevis.
The trio from Specsavers stores in Bolton and Middlebrook endured gales, heavy rain and hailstones to complete the trek in six hours and twenty minutes. Their expedition came just ahead of National Eye Health Week (24-30th September).
A word from the team
Robert, who organised the gruelling climb, said: ‘With National Eye Health Week coming up, we wanted to do our bit to mark the occasion and raise awareness.
‘It was a tough climb but we were spurred on by the knowledge that our colleagues and friends were backing us all the way, and their generous donations would support the RNIB in its vital work.
‘As eye care experts, we have a great appreciation of the work that the RNIB carries out for those affected by sight loss.’
