A local optician has celebrated a decade of eyecare in Mexborough by holding a Hawaiian summer themed family fun day to raise vital funds for Guide Dogs.

A decade of business
The Specsavers store, which has been located on York Square for 10 years, managed to raise a total of £300 during the fun day, which featured a DJ, a tombola, fancy dress and goody bags.

A steady stream of customers visited the store during the day to join in the celebrations.

To mark the occasion, the Specsavers team popped on their pinnies and whipped up a host of tasty treats for customers to enjoy in return for a donation to the charity.

Mister Twister was on the scene
Renowned balloon artist Mister Twister was also in store, producing his weird and wonderful balloon creations to surprise and amaze the kids.

Andy Bryer, store director at Specsavers in Mexborough, commented: ‘The team were delighted to celebrate the store’s 10th birthday with the local community. We are so thankful to our loyal customers who support not only our store, but our efforts to fundraise for eyecare charities. Our total of £300 for Guide Dogs was fantastic and will really help blind and partially sighted people in the area and beyond.

‘We’ve seen many changes over the last decade including a £150,000 rebrand and expansion last year. As a team, we will continue to invest in Mexborough, delivering exceptional service for our customers and a safe and secure workplace for our staff.

‘We look forward to celebrating many more milestones in Mexborough!’

Investing in the area
The store expansion, in September last year, introduced a third testing room and took the store onto a second floor. The cutting edge renovation, combining the latest eyecare and retail technology, brought the store firmly up to date and enabled the provision of a highly professional and ultra-modern service.
