Mexborough Specsavers hosted a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support for its customers in September.
The Mexborough Specsavers team hosted the coffee morning at its York Street address in September where guests were offered cake in exchange for donations, raising a total of £300.41 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Two million people living with cancer
There are more than 200 different kinds of cancer and one in three people will be diagnosed with the disease. There are currently two million people living with cancer in the UK and this figure is set to double by 2030.
Lorna Weller, store director at Mexborough Specsavers, said: ‘We all know someone who has been affected by cancer so it’s important to support charities that do such fantastic work to help sufferers and their families. We’re thrilled our coffee morning was so well supported by the local community.’
Each year Macmillan Cancer Support invites employers, volunteers, families and friends across the UK to take part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in September. The event helps to fund medical, emotional, practical and financial support to cancer sufferers and their families. Last year’s event raised more than £20million for the charity.
