Members of staff at Specsavers in Melksham are inviting local residents to take advantage of expert-eye health advice while visiting the popular Melksham Carnival.
The store is sponsoring the event and the team will be on hand throughout the day to speak to carnival-goers and give out goodies to younger visitors.
The annual procession, which attracts thousands of spectators from surrounding towns and villages, has been running for almost 100 years.
Store director Tom Mogford said: ‘We’ve been involved with the carnival for the last few years, and this is the second time we’ll be sponsoring, so it’s very exciting. We’ve been part of the Melksham community for 10 years, and have seen a lot of change in that time. One thing that is constant however, is the town’s fantastic carnival, which people know and love being a part of.’
Colourful and creative
The carnival procession, arguably one of the town’s biggest community events, encourages creativity, and will see a host of colourful floats from local businesses, community groups and families parade through Melksham’s streets to compete for prizes in categories including best performance, best walking group and Mayor’s choice.
But the fun doesn’t stop there – a family fun day will be running throughout the day in the King George V playing field.
‘There will be something for everyone at the carnival this year and we’d like to encourage all of our customers to take the time to explore what’s on offer,’ Tom continued. ‘We’d also like to invite people to come and visit us throughout the day for expert eye-health advice, as well as to take advantage of some great offers in store, including £50 off designer sunglasses.
‘It’s going to be a brilliant day and one that we’re very much looking forward to in store.’
