Celebrating its 15th anniversary, one of the world’s best-loved monsters, the Gruffalo has emerged from the deep dark woods to make an exclusive appearance on its very own children’s eyewear range.

Now available at Specsavers in Market Harborough, the store is celebrating the launch of the range by running a Gruffalo colouring competition for children under the age of seven. The lucky winner will win a bounty of Gruffalo goodies including a Gruffalo rucksack, a large Gruffalo soft toy and a range of Gruffalo activity books, stickers and copies of the original stories.

Store director Barry Henning, says: ‘The Gruffalo is as popular now as when the books were launched 15 year ago, so we thought it would be fun to run a colouring competition for our youngest customers. We’re looking forward to receiving lots of colourful entries which we’ll display in the store window.’

Artistic youngsters can enter by popping into the store to pick up a template. Completed drawings are to be returned by Monday 16 June, when the store team will judge the winning entry.

Favourite characters from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved children’s picture books make an appearance on the new collection which is available in stores nationwide. The glasses are included in the Kids Two Free Pairs promotion. The offer will see children up to the age of 16 qualify for one pair of specs free from the NHS and a second pair from Specsavers free of charge, including prescription sunglasses.
