An eighties-themed fun day held at Market Harborough Specsavers has raised £500 for patients affected by blood cancer through Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Adam Ant, the Super Mario Brothers, Slash and Goose from Top Gun joined other favourite characters from the decade as staff celebrated the 25 year career of contact lens optician David Pell.
Providing a soundtrack to the day, Harborough FM held a disco outside the store and the Specsavers team gave away free sight tests to customers who booked a free contact lens trial.
Find a balloon to win a prize
Staff also released ‘999 Red Balloons’ in a balloon race and they have until 25 August to be found and reported to the store. The owner of the balloon that is found furthest away from Market Harborough will win a Rubix Cube hamper.
There was also a spectacular raffle with an abundance of prizes up for grabs including:
- a Rubix Cube storage box
- cut and blow dry at Toni & Guy
- beauty goodies from Mistry’s Chemist
- earrings from Stefan’s
- Sweet treats from Thorntons and Sugar Shack.
All money raised went to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research
Barry Henning, store director said: ‘We had a fantastic day and I saw a few of customers dancing away to the disco so it looked like they enjoyed it too. We raised a huge amount of money so we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us. So far we’ve raised more than £1,200 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research but we’ll be doing everything we can over the next few months to raise even more.’
