Specsavers in Market Drayton opticians have donned wigs to raise money and awareness for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

The store raised more than £60 by hosting a bake sale and offering specs MOTs in return for donations. Helping to spread the charity’s message, customers who donned a wig would also receive a 10% discount on any purchases in store.

‘Wig Week was a fantastic way for us to support CLIC Sargent, a charity which does incredible work with young people affected by cancer,’ said Gareth Ridge, store director. ‘We raised over £60 in total and managed to increase awareness of the charity in the local community.’

As the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, CLIC Sargent provides practical, clinical, financial and emotional support to the 10 children and young people who are diagnosed with cancer each day in the UK.

The charity has been helping young people cope with cancer since its formation in 2005.
