A painting by the director of Specsavers in Margate and Ramsgate has raised £1,100 for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Series of paintings

David Bryant, Director of the Margate and Ramsgate Specsavers store has painted a series of pictures for the Fund, the latest of which was auctioned at the RAF Gala Dinners.

D-Day ground attack

D-Day ground attack is one of six paintings by Mr Bryant, which have altogether raised approximately £17,000 for the charity.

Painting as a pastime

Mr Bryant says: ‘I’m so pleased to be able to donate the auction money from my paintings towards the RAF Benevolent Fund.'

‘I’m an optician and painting is my pastime – I’m thrilled that it has been appreciated. The Fund does tremendous work for RAF members and it’s important that people continue to support them so that they can continue to help families and servicemen and women.’

RAF Benevolent Fund donations

Paul Hewson, the Regional Director for the South England branch of the RAF Benevolent Fund says: ‘David has contributed hugely to the charity and we couldn’t be more grateful.'

‘We need all the donations we can get to help those who protect our nation and give something back to them for all their hard work.’

The RAF Benevolent Fund helps 60,000 people each year, supporting the morale and wellbeing of the serving RAF and assisting the RAF family when they are in need.
