Specsavers in March put its best foot forward in supporting the local community by supplying free high-visibility jackets for a sponsored charity walk this month.

The opticians presented the Specsavers-branded child and adult-sized jackets to the 1st Doddington Scout Group to keep youngsters and team leaders safe and visible during their walk on New Year’s Day.

The money raised during the event will go towards repairing the old roof on the Scout’s hall on Benwick Road. Specsavers March is further backing the cause by agreeing to donate £100 towards the repairs.

A word from the store director

Trevor Clark, store director at Specsavers March, said: ‘We were more than happy to support the 1st Doddington Scout Group on their sponsored walk. They are an important part of the community and we hope our contribution will help speed up the repairs on the Scout’s hall.’

Road Safety Week

The activity also formed part of Specsavers March’s support of Road Safety Week, an annual event encouraging schools, communities and organisations to take action on road safety and promote life-saving measures.
