Staff from Specsavers in March have raised more than £1,000 in support of local charity FACET, enabling it to make urgent repairs to the centre’s roof, which was damaged during Storm Doris.
92 mile bike ride
A team of volunteers took to their bikes to complete a 92-mile ride from the charity headquarters to Hunstanton and back, with colleagues in store completing the same journey on an exercise bike to support the effort.
Gemma Ashby, who led the team from Specsavers, said: ‘We’ve seen a flood of donations from local residents and we’d like to thank everyone who donated to the cause.
‘FACET is a fantastic local charity. When we heard they needed help, we didn’t waste any time arranging the “Tour de FACET” bike ride.’
Founded in 2002, FACET is a charity which provides training and day care to adults with disabilities within the Fenland area. Based in March, with shops in Chatteris and Whittlesey, the charity benefits 118 students who attend over the course of the week.
