Specsavers in March is showing its support for World Glaucoma Week (11-18 March) by completing additional training to learn more about the condition.
Staff members have completed a course designed alongside the International Glaucoma Association (IGA), which will enable them to assist glaucoma sufferers in manging the condition, such as advising on how to effectively administer eye drops.
Glaucoma is thought to affect around 700,000 people in the UK, and Specsavers March is aiming to raise further awareness of the condition by backing World Glaucoma Week this month.
Helping to treat a serious eye condition
Ruhan du Plooy, store director at Specsavers March, said: ‘Glaucoma is a serious eye condition and can lead to irreversible sight loss, so early detection is key to managing this effectively.
'With the training, are staff are even better prepared to help assist customers living with glaucoma.’
