Bearsted Golf Club in Maidstone received £200 worth of eyewear from Specsavers in Maidstone for a charity golf day event, held in aid of the Kent Association for the Blind (KAB).

Free golf balls and eyewear

Players got out their best nine irons on Thursday 4 September for a competitive round of golf, before taking part in a raffle where they had the chance to win eyecare donated by Specsavers in Maidstone.

The lucky winners of the competition each received a golf club and all players were given golf balls from Specsavers. The first hole was also sponsored by the store.

Importance of eye health in sport

Store director Sanjay Patel said: ‘We want to be involved in the charity golf event annually.

‘We’re proud to not only be providing players with shiny new golf equipment, but also offer them eyecare to highlight the importance of eye health in sport. With such long ranges in golf, it’s imperative that players have excellent eyesight so that they can play to the best of their abilities.’

Encouraging support

KAB Trustee Tim Harris said: ‘We’re so grateful to Specsavers for providing us with eyecare and golf equipment to encourage lots of people to participate. The KAB need this level of support so that we can continue to help sight impaired people to live their lives independently.’
