This week is Dementia Awareness Week and the team at Specsavers in Maidstone have completed the Dementia Friends training, an initiative run by the Alzheimer’s Society.
In doing so they become recognised as a Dementia Friends, with a badge to wear on their uniforms to indicate their increased level of dementia awareness to customers. Specsavers’ home- and care home-visiting teams – Specsavers Healthcall – are also completing the training.
A word from the director
Sanjay Patel, store director of Specsavers in Maidstone, says: “Specsavers is always keen to support local charity initiatives and get involved with causes that positively impact the community.
‘Therefore, we wanted to learn how we can best support our customers who have dementia that come into the store and generally improve our understanding of the condition’.
