The summer holidays are in full swing, but there is one more exam children should be taking before they can fully relax.

Specsavers in Maidstone is warning parents that poor eyesight can have a significant impact on a child’s ability to learn and urging them to schedule an eye exam before the start of the school year.

A word from the store director

Sanjay Patel, store director at Specsavers in Maidstone, says: ‘whether your child wears glasses or not, it is important to take them for regular eye tests to ensure that they have normal, healthy vision so that they can fulfil their academic potential.

‘Undetected problems with vision can damage a child’s confidence and performance. Subtle signs such as poor handwriting, low-attention-span or falling behind peers at school can indicate visual difficulties, so it’s important that parents take them to get their eyes tested regularly.’
