All Specsavers staff in Maidenhead have passed a Dementia Friends training course meaning every member is now a Dementia Friend. The course ensures that anyone taking part in the training will progress their customer care skills for those suffering with the condition.
Stephen Woodward, optical assistant, took part in the training, which is offered by the Alzheimer’s Society to increase awareness of the illness and improve procedures for customers with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
A word from Stephen
Stephen, who has only been with the store for six months, says: ‘This course has been very thought-provoking and has really opened my eyes to the struggles that many people with this condition face.
‘My confidence in dealing with dementia sufferers has really improved since the training. It’s amazing that companies like Specsavers and the Alzheimer’s Society have organised these training programmes for employees like myself.’
