Specsavers Magherafelt has invested more than £30,000 in a new on-site laboratory to improve customer service and the quality of its glasses.
The new Specsavers laboratory means customer orders will now be made in-store. It has also seen the creation of two news jobs, which will take the staff number up to ten. Shauna McElhone has been employed as a full-time laboratory technician and the store is currently recruiting for a part-time optical assistant to help on the shop floor.
Brian O’Kane, store director, says: ‘The new store laboratory has been a long time in the planning stages. I am delighted that it is now officially open and we can look at providing an even better service to our customers. We pride ourselves immensely on the quality of glasses that we produce, and this new laboratory will enable us to increase both our service and quality levels at the same time.
‘In addition, by 2015, we are also hoping that we will be able to reduce customer waiting times on orders by half. This local Specsavers store has contributed significantly to the local economy over the last number years through offering both full and part time employment.’
The Magherafelt Specsavers store’s laboratory will be open five days a week to meet customer demand.
