Specsavers in Lutterworth is arranging an array of activities as it continues to fundraise for the Ashanti Development project.
Staff will be selling raffle tickets throughout August and September to win a giant teddy bear, as well as selling ‘Afrigrams’ where customers can attempt to unscramble the names of African countries to win a pair of specs worth £125.
‘We’re proud to be continuing our support of the Ashanti Development, which helps to improve the lives of people in the poorest parts of Ghana,’ said Abhijit Roy, store director.
‘We’ve planned fun activities for all ages this summer and hopefully we’ll raise a lot of money for the charity.’
£9,000 raised for a kindergarten
‘We’re pleased to have already raised more than £9,000 in partnership with the Hinckley store,’ Abhijit continued. ‘That’s enabled us to build a new kindergarten, and our latest fundraising efforts will help to provide furniture and equipment so the local children can really benefit.’
Raffle tickets are available to purchase in store throughout the summer, with the draw to win a giant teddy bear taking place on 27 September. ‘Afrigrams’ are available at the store for a suggested donation of £1, while there is also an opportunity for children to win prizes by guessing the object in a zoomed in picture.
Ashanti Development is a charity run solely by volunteers who want to improve the lives of people in the most impoverished parts of Ghana. The charity aims to provide remote villages in the region with water and sanitation, healthcare, education and income generating activities.
