Staff from Specsavers in Ludlow hosted a children’s fundraising day on Wednesday 4 April to mark the launch of the new Disney and Marvel kids’ frame range.
The team invited customers to sample homemade cakes and cookies, take part in a lucky dip and ran a children’s clinic all day.
Raising funds for local community
The store raised £100 for Unique Creative Arts Network (UCAN) productions, enabling it to run Maggie’s Club events; drama workshops for young adults and children who are visually impaired or have special needs.
Established in 2005, UCAN enables blind and partially sighted young people in the UK to have access to the arts. The organisation helps to develop physical and vocal confidence, raise aspirations and promote individual abilities.
A word from the store director
‘We’re absolutely delighted to support Maggie’s Club for the launch of the new collection,’ said store director, Nicola Aubrey. ‘The event was a perfect opportunity to remind local parents about the importance of children’s eye health, and we’re keen to reiterate this message as much as possible.
‘The 11 new styles in the collection are great fun for our younger customers,’ continues Nicola. ‘Kids can now channel their inner Avenger or Princess and we’re keen to highlight the wider choice for them, especially for children who have different needs when it comes to wearing glasses.'
