Staff at the Llanelli store were delighted to welcome local rugby star Aaron Shingler for a routine eye test.
Annual check-ups for Scarlets
The 30-year-old Scarlets flanker and Wales international was welcomed by staff at the Stepney Street store following his routine check-up with optometrist, Danielle Gwynne.
Specsavers in Llanelli provides annual routine eye tests to all members of the Scarlets squad, to ensure they keep an eye on their optical health, as well as the ball.
Importance of routine tests
Susan Lewis, director at the Llanelli branch, said: ‘It was great to have Aaron in the store. No matter who you are, whatever your age or fitness level, regular eye tests are important. Sight tests are a necessity to monitor eye health, but a lot of people are unaware that they can also help pick up signs of other health conditions, sometimes very serious ones.
‘Good eye sight is imperative to professional athletes such as Aaron, particularly when it comes to winning those line-outs, and it’s fantastic that he recognises that and came in to see us. We just hope his visit encourages others to do likewise.’
