A mum from Lisburn has been shortlisted as a regional finalist for the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Award for the 35 – 44 category.
Emma secretly applied for the competition for fun but was surprised to find out that she had been shortlisted as a regional finalist.
'I can’t believe I was selected as a regional finalist for my category, I honestly didn’t think I would get this far. I have always been proud to wear glasses especially since getting my recent pair of blue frames. Glasses make me feel more confident and they are a versatile fashion accessory.'
Charity role model
'I am also proud to support this year’s competition’s regional charity, Kidscape, as it empowers and supports young people affected by bullying, which no child should face no matter what they look like.'
A brilliant candidate
Store director Jill Campbell congratulated Emma on being a 35 – 44 category winner saying, 'Myself and my colleagues are delighted that Emma felt confident with their choice of glasses so much so that they decided to take part in the competition. It demonstrates that our Frame Stylist has chosen frames that reflect their personal style and they are proud to wear their glasses as a fashion statement. We wish them the best of luck in the next round of the competition.'
Glitzy London awards ceremony
The awards were launched by Steps star Claire Richards earlier this year. If Emma triumphs in her age category, she will have the chance to win £10,000, meet Claire and rub shoulders with many other celebs at the glitzy awards ceremony at London’s 8 Northumberland Avenue in October.
