Lisburn Specsavers are putting on their best ‘bib and tucker’ by hosting a special Great Guide Dogs Tea Party in store on Thursday 27 April from 10am to 1pm.
Special guest is local man Paul Hunt and his guide dog Yeoman who will be chatting to shoppers and customers alongside Guide Dogs NI staff and volunteers about the charity’s work and how it improves the lives of those living with sight loss.
Raising funds for people with sight loss
The event is part of a local and UK wide series of tea parties aimed at raising funds for well-loved charity, Guide Dogs. Ursula McCanny from Guide Dogs NI said: ‘Every hour another person in the UK goes blind. When someone loses their sight, our charity is there to make sure they don’t lose their freedom as well.’
Optometrist and store director Jill Campbell said: ‘We’re looking forward to working with local charity Guide Dogs NI and supporting the excellent work they do for people with sight loss.
‘The tea parties concept is a fantastic initiative and we’re looking forward to welcoming customers, guide dog owners and charity staff and volunteers into our store to help raise funds for an excellent cause.’
Tea and buns
Guide Dogs NI and Specsavers staff are providing tea, coffee and refreshments and are inviting customers to make a donation to Guide Dogs NI.
