Specsavers in Lichfield has chosen to support Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes (SSBB) as its local charity of the year.
The emergency motorbike service provided by volunteers helps to transport urgent, life-saving medical supplies to hospitals across the region.
Volunteers with SSBB can receive a free eye test at Specsavers Lichfield when they show a valid ID card.
Store director, Parful Patel, said: ‘The blood bike volunteers do a very important job for our local community, and we want to do what we can to support this very worthwhile cause. There is a clear link between riding a motorcycle safely and having good vision. For this reason we have chosen Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes as one of our nominated charities for 2015 and we will aim to raise as much money as possible for this cause.’
The Samuel Johnson Community Hospital in Lichfield, part of the Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust benefits from the service provided by the charity.
