The team at Specsavers in Lichfield held a cake sale and raffle on Friday 9 November to help raise awareness and money for The Royal British Legion. More than £200 was raised which beat last year’s target, making the day a great success.

Dressed in 1940s clothing, members of staff at the Market Street store made cupcakes decorated with edible poppies. Specsavers customer and Royal British Legion Veteran fundraiser, Tony Robinson, who has 35 years’ service, supported the team with his fundraising skills.

A word from the store director

‘The team and I are overjoyed to have raised more than £200 for this important charity’, said Praful Patel, store director. ‘We had a fantastic day supporting this great cause and would like to thank everyone who bought cakes or donated to The Poppy Appeal.’

The Royal British Legion was founded by veterans after the First World War. A century on from the start of that conflict, they're still helping today's Service men and women, veterans, and their families in almost every aspect of daily life. They also champion Remembrance, safeguarding the memory of those who have given their lives for our freedom through education and events.
