With the help of friends, colleagues and a few slices of cake, Lichfield optometrist, Talisa Patel, has raised more than £1000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice ahead of her Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, which will take place on Saturday 2 July.
Fundraising target doubled
Talisa, who’s original fundraising goal was £500, has doubled her target via an online Just Giving page and with the help of colleagues from the Lichfield Specsavers store, who hosted a cake sale on Saturday 11 June.
The store played host to numerous customers and passers-by, who enjoyed a range of delicious baked goods throughout the day, adding £121 towards the running total.
Talisa said: ‘I’m so grateful to everyone who has donated and helped me to reach such an amazing total – and I still have three weeks to go! Acorns Children’s Hospice is such a fantastic charity and its work really makes a difference in the lives of thousands of families across the country, so this money is going to be put to very good use.’
Acorns Children’s Hospice is a UK charity that provides care for children with life limiting or life threatening conditions, and offers support to their families. To find out more about Acorns, please visit www.acorns.org.uk.
Local community support
Store director, Praful Patel, added: ‘We were delighted to welcome so many people into the store on Saturday. It is great to know that our local community are happy to support us in our charitable challenges.’
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a 24 mile-long trek through part of the Pennine range within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, taking intrepid adventurers over the Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough peaks.
