Members of staff at Specsavers in Lichfield will be showing their support for Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People with a fundraising day on Friday 7 October.
The optical and hearing teams will be welcoming volunteers from the charities along with their four-legged companions into the store during Guide Dogs Week (3-9 October) to raise much needed funds and awareness.
‘Guide Dogs and Hearing Dogs are both fantastic charities which provide help to thousands of people across the country,’ said store director, Praful Patel. ‘Our fundraising day will be a great opportunity for people to visit us in store and find out more about the work that both charities do whilst enjoying a delicious slice of cake.’
Customers and passers-by are invited to join in with the fun throughout the day, which will include an opportunity to meet some of the incredible dogs that provide fundamental care. Visitors will also be able to take part in the store raffle throughout the day, as well as enjoy some delicious home-baked cakes in exchange for donations.
The charities provide essential aid and support to the blind or partially sighted and those affected by hearing loss across the UK, giving them freedom, mobility, emotional support and independence. For more information, visit www.guidedogs.org.uk/ and www.hearingdogs.org.uk/.
Money raised during the event will not only help to train future guide dogs and hearing dogs, but will also help train new owners and provide them with all the essential items they will need to look after their dog.
Praful added: ‘We’re delighted to have the opportunity to support these fantastic organisations, and we’re looking forward to welcoming many of our customers into store on the day.’
