For every sight test which took place on National Eye Health Week, Specsavers Leven donated £1 to the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

The Leven opticians conducted more than 130 tests during the week meaning the store donated £137 to the charity, which supports people with sight loss.

Recent YouGov data, commissioned by Specsavers and RNIB, found that people in the UK are not taking their eye health as seriously as they should – despite regular eye tests being able to potentially detect signs of major health conditions including brain tumours, heart disease, strokes and diabetes.

Transforming the nation’s eye health

Adrian McCann, store director of Specsavers Leven, said: ‘Our eyes are so important but many people neglect their eye health when they should have a sight test every two years.

‘Our mission together with RNIB is to transform the nation’s eye health through education, awareness and action. We’re proud to support RNIB and delighted with the funds we’ve raised.’
