Eyecare specialists in Lerwick are offering people in the area advice on protecting their eyes from the sun’s harmful rays this summer. The Specsavers team in the town are encouraging locals to ensure they invest in appropriate sunglasses as the weather improves.
A word of advice from the store director
Thomas Bruin, store director at Specsavers in Lerwick, said: ‘It’s great to be out and about enjoying the weather when the sun makes an appearance, but we want to make sure people do this safely.
We advise choosing sunglasses with the CE kite mark, which you can spot by labelling with the UV 400 mark. This helps to protect eyes from damaging UV rays which can cause eye irritation and, in some cases, lasting damage.
Anyone who’d like more advice can ask anyone in our team and they’ll be happy to assist.’
